Today Millie went in for her first doxorubicin treatment. She was a little low energy today and her white count was down a bit, but not so low they wanted to delay treatment. (her energy level may be in part due to being up a lot during the night because of constant thunderstorms) Now that she has completed her antibiotic treatment for the UTI they did an ultarsound and found the forward wall of her bladder a little thick, so they got a urine sample and sent it to be cultured. This way if the UTI reasserts itself, we will know what we are dealing with.
catheter and administer the doxorubicin over a 30-45 minute period. It is worth noting that these treatments cannot be much fun for Millie and yet clearly the staff treat her with great compassion and affection....she always comes out wagging and not in the least fearful of them.
The docs consider her to be in partial remission right now and seem to expect full remission by our next visit...Millie gets a break now, we don't go back till the 21st!
